3 Reasons Time Management is Important
Time management is an entrepreneur’s best friend. Understanding why is important is key to your success as an entrepreneur. Throughout my time both as an entrepreneur and a Marine Corps Officer having great time management skills has helped me stay ahead of the competition and do some incredible things. In this article, I will want to accomplish 3 things. Firstly, I will get into the 3 reasons time management is important. Second, I will explain why you should take it seriously. Finally, I want to give you resources and tools that will get you to an optimal time management level.
Being organized is the main reason why you should look to improve your time management skills. Organizational skills will help you unclutter your mind. Uncluttering your mind will allow you to think clearly about what you need to accomplish. It takes you away from trying to multi-task. But instead working to complete one task after another quickly.
In order to accomplish this, one of my favorite organizing methodologies that I have used in all of my businesses is agile/scrum. I wrote another article on what agile/scrum is. So, be sure to check that out as well here for more information.
Better Decision Making/Business Expansion
This is a direct effect of being organized. Improving your time management skills will help you be organized sure, but it will also help you make better decisions. Which, can lead you to expand your business. Understanding what you have in front of you will help you execute quicker and will narrow the options that you have to make. Knowing what decisions lay before you is important when scaling a business. This is coming from a guy with ADD. So, I know a thing or two about being unorganized and having way too many things to make decisions on. Trust me that the least amount of decisions you have to make the better.
Understanding time management will allow you to see what you have in front of you and what route you have to take. As I have mentioned, the Agile/Scrum methodologies are a good start.
Both organization and better decision-making/business expansion lead to better health. Running your own company can and will get stressful. Being in charge of so many decisions will get to just about anyone. Limiting the number of decisions you have to make is the key to managing your stress and health levels. That leans into staying organized and making better decisions. The least amount of decisions you have to make the less stress you have to deal with. You will then have more time to work out and develop healthier habits.
Those are the 3 reasons why time management is important. As I mentioned multiple times in this article, this is just a starting point. I’ve provided you with the resources necessary to be optimal at time management. Learning how to use them is a whole other problem. Which I’ve alluded to in other articles, especially this one.
I mentioned agile/scrum earlier in this post. If you are interested in learning more check out the founders of scrum’s website. They are a great resource for anyone looking to get knee-deep into Agile/Scrum.
